Hey everyone- glad to see the list back online, altho' I have to admit I haven't been reading as faithfully as usual. Its strange tho- even if you can't keep up on the digests everyday, when they're gone, you really miss them!! I just started a new job as a consultant at a bank, and I don't have the 'net access I used too, (banks are funny that way) so now its read the digest late at night or don't read them at all!!

Anywho, here's my question/situation: Earlier this year, I picked up some fresh chiles at an Indo -Pak grocery- standard Thai looking- about 2" long and about 1/4 to 3/8" at the shoulder. I let one ripen and dry, and planted the seeds, and apparently all of them sprouted, as the seed tray was full of plants. I've since planted them both in the garden and in pots on the deck, and they are all over 1' tall and pretty bushy. The problem is there are absolutely no flowers on any but - get this- one plant!! Not even signs of buds. All their neighbors- Bonnets, Savinas, Cayennes, Birdseye, are all flowering and producing already. There is the one plant that I noticed today had not only a few buds, but 2 pretty good sized chiles. Do you think that these plants could be sterile from commercial hybridization, or maybe they're just "late bloomers"? I think its strange that one plant would produce out of about 6 or 8. I've saved/grown seeds from other purchased plants ala Super Chiles, and they
grew just find the next year and the year after.

Another item of note- my 10 year old son is on his way to being a chile head- and I have to be the proudest Daddy on Earth. I was munching some fresh cayennes from a plant, and challanged him to try one (of course, it was in the form of "I'll give you 10 bucks if you can eat this and not spit it out or barf"). Damn if he didn't chomp it down, and then say give me 20 and I'll eat another. Sucker that I am, I let him go for it, on a nice big fat one, and he did it up with nary a hiccup. Cost me 20 bucks!! But it was worth it!! He did say his stomach was warm- I told
