Technically, a chile isn't a pepper. Peppers are those little hard round
things that are ground up and put in a pepper shaker. A chile is a fruit
with a skin covered flesh and seeds inside. Although it has become common
practice to refer to chiles as peppers, that is technically incorrect. I
believe that all the fruits referred to as peppers, like bell peppers, are
really chiles even though the level of capsicum in some of them is
non-existent.
