When I first joined this list a month ago or so, I was just your average
hot sauce lovin' dude. At that time, as I have mentioned, I tride some
Blair's Sudden Death off a spoon (YIKES!), that led me here, and the
rest, as they say...
Well, I had never thought of growing my own (chiles, that is <g>),
smoking (chiles, again), making powder, etc. Then along came Calvin and
his Magic Yellow Dust, and all the posts about seedlings, drying,
smoking, sauces, salsas, and so on. So am getting curious. Yesterday I
bout some chile seeds (habanero, jalapeno, and volcano hybrid hot (?). I
also bought some japs at the local market, with hopes of doing some drying.
I cut them into small pieces, laid them on a sheet of plastic wrap, and
placed that on a sheet of aluminum foil. I was going to let them air dry
on my window cell here at work, but then I had an idea: put them on top
of my computer. The heat, I was thinking, would facilitate the drying
process. My gateway has vents on both sides and top, so I didn't think it
would be too much of a problem for my computer, which I leave on all the
time.
When I came in this moring, my office had a great jalapeno aroma, and my
pepper pieces are nice and shriveled and nearly completely dry. Cool.
This list is great, by the way. Thanks to ya'll for the insipration. Long
live the chile.
