[CH] It may be Winter outside but it's Spring in my basement

A few weeks ago I noticed a lot of references to The Firesign Theatres’ work
and thought that I’d join in. I think we’re all Bozos on this list. And you
can believe me, because I never lie and I’m always right.

Back to chiles: This year I tried raising chiles from seeds for the first
time. With help from friends and list members everything’s going great so far.
The peppers are growing down in the basement with two shop lights suspended
from chains about an inch from the tallest plant. I have the florescent lights
on a timer for 16 hours a day and I turn a fan on the plants for 1 hour a day.
I fertilize with ½ strength Miracle Grow every 2 weeks. The plants were
started Jan 25 and most of them have been transplanted to 4 in. pots as they
got bigger. Here’s a list of what’s growing:
36 Orange Habaneros
27 Bolivian Rainbows
11 Charleston
6 Red Habaneros
3 Scotch Bonnets
3 Tabasco
With a very small sunny area in my yard I’ll have room for about 20 plants .
What I don’t give to family and friends will be for sale at the Proud Market
Plant sale on May 24th. The Market is part of the Rochester, NY Lilac Festival
and will have several area garden clubs selling plants. It’s a chance to buy
some unusual plants and get some expert growing advice at the same time. I
hope that any Chile Heads that come up for the Lilac Festival will stop by the
sale and give one of my Habs a good home. I’ll post more information as the
date grows closer and if my plants survive.
