I recently moved to Natchez, MS and was delighted to find a Mexican
restaurant in the HoJo a couple of blocks from my office. I decided to give
it a try. I thought it best not to get my hopes up, but I was suprised to
find that the food was great. They brought out the obligatory salsa and
chips. Everyone in our group liked the salsa. I asked the waiter if they had
HOT salsa. He returned with a bowl of salsa that didn't look at all like the
mild stuff. I tried it. It was HOT!!!!! It was GOOD!!!!! The waiter said
that only a few locals had the guts to eat it. I eat quite a bit without
drinking anything. All of a sudden I noticed that all of the Mexicans had
gathered around our table to watch me eat. They said that they were amazed.
My partner told them that I was a Chile Head and then I had to show everyone
my card. No when I walk in they all know me by name and bring the hot salsa
out first. I haven't found anything on the menu that was not excellent. The
staff is very nice, and the drinks are potent. If you get to Natchez, check
it out. The name is La Fiesta Grande.
