Dear Fellow Chileheads -
In the past I had several requests for the cookbook, Hot on Chile!
published by Mesilla Valley Rotary Club in Las Cruces, New Mexico
(chile country!), a fundraising project whose proceeds benefit local
community projects.The first edition sold out quickly last year at this
time. The second edition is exactly the same as the first and is due to
arrive sometime this week.
This year all proceeds will benefit Comprehensive School Health Inc,
directed by Dr. Edward Sweetser. This is a non-profit organization whose
primary mission is to operate school-based health centers or "wellness
centers" in the Las Cruces Public Schools providing age appropriate,
comprehensive, preventative and primary care for enrolled students.
Their focus is to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Las Cruces is one
of the poorest cities in the country and many of our students have
little or no health care. Your support would be much appreciated. The
colorful red and yellow 60-page book includes 60 recipes divided into
Tummy Teasers (appetizers), Sizzlin Sauces, The Chile Pepperpot (chili,
soup, stew), Zippy Entrees (casseroles, burritos, vegie, quiche, etc.),
Sassy Sidekicks (bread, grits and taters, vegies, salads), and One Hot
'n Sweet Ending (dessert - apple pie with chiles - the best chile
dessert I've sampled). If you would like to order a copy of the book,
please send a check or money order made out to Mesilla Valley Rotary
Club for $12.50 ($10 for the cookbook and roughly $2.50 for first class
USA mail - it varies zip code to zip code. Add 50 cents more (or $10
plus $3) for US Priority delivery. Please include your name and address
or better yet, a mailing label with your name and address. If you have
