Luke in Oz asked: "Any idea as to how many megs of digests there are and
if
there is a formula for converting this into reams of paper needed
to print them?"

FWIW, here are my stats:

Volume 1: 7.7 meg, Volume 2: 9.8 meg, Volume 3: 9.8 meg, Volume 4:
10.5 meg, and Volume 5 so far, 2.8 meg. for a total of 40.6 meg or 23,000
pages or 45 reams of paper.

YMMV Notes: Much cutting done; I get the digest. All Mime-instructions,
encoded binaries and repeated text from previous posts in the same digest
were rigorously pruned for better storage economy. Much more than this is
stored on the servers, I am sure.

I use WordPerfect 5.2 and store as ASCII text files. WordPerfect gives a
rough number of pages per digest. The most recent, Vol 5, # 165 has 37.5
kb after I trimmed it. WP 5.2 says this will take about 21 pages or about
1.8 kb per page with a 70 character line.
