Hi Nels,

Definitely there are different types of Tortes. The ones my wife and I eat,
are what you might classify as a "Mexican Hamburger". Note, there are
several variations of these, just as with American hamburgers, Pizza,
Spaghetti, Chili Con Carne, etc. etc. This is a typical example:
Beef cut into small pieces, seasoned or not. If seasoned, I find it's
usually seasoned with a taco meat type of seasoning. Served on a bun called
birotes, which is usually
toasted or fried with butter. Then the meat is topped with with any number
of toppings usually lettuce, tomato, onions, avocado slices, and sliced
Jalapenos. Sometimes (usually) Mayonnaise is used as a condiment also.
