I use a standard "dilly bean" recipe, but load up the jar with peppers
as well.  Thai birdseye peppers are plenty hot, abundant, and
dirt cheap around here at the Asian markets, so when making hot pickled
beans I'll slit a dozen of them and put them in the jar, not at the 
bottom with the pickling spices, but intermixed with the beans.

Another benefit is, of course, eating the pickled peppers later. <g>
