So, I'm in the grocery store, frozen food aisle, looking for TV dinners
(convenient for lunch at work), when I notice they have PATIO Mexican
dinners on sale for 79 cents. That's a good price, but what caught my eye
was the new packaging. On the cover, on the plate of artfully laid-out
pseudo-Mexican fare, are CHILES! A different type for each meal variety. An
orange hab here, serranos over there, jalapeno slices on the other and even
a scotch bonnet looking chile!
Anyhow, wouldn't you know, there aren't any such chiles inside. The
ingredients list has, way down, chili peppers as part of the chili powder.
Easily augmented, but I feel betrayed by the ConAgra Frozen Foods Division
(makers of the PATIO brand). They also make it a real pain to comment on
their product. No 800#, no e-mail address,no mention of a website, just a
snail mail address...AND you have to include the entire side panel with the
lot stamp.
Oh, well... caveat emptor, I suppose...
