[CH] Supply Questions

Dear CHs:

As an economist by training, I'm inclined to believe that, where there's a
demand, eventually a source of supply will also be found. So I'm hoping the
list can help me out with a couple of things:

1. I've recently received, thanks to a friend who visited Albuquerque, a
package of frozen roasted/chopped/seeded green chile. It's a 3-lb bag of
"Hot Sandia chile" packaged by J & D Foods of Albuquerque. I've had this
before- in fact, I brought some back on my last trip there- but I know from
experience this lot won't last long. Does anyone know of a) any producers
of green chile who routinely ship- and can guarantee safe arrival of -
frozen green chile within the continental US, or b) any source of said
green chile closer to Madison, Wisconsin than New Mexico itself? I've
checked out the local Mexican markets that I know of, and have not been
able to locate it.

2. I recall seeing, some time ago, a reference on the list to RoTel having
produced a version of their canned tomatoes and green chiles which included
habaneros. Does anyone know if a) this product is still available at all,
b) if so, is it only a regional availability (because you certainly can't
get it here!) and if so where can you get it, or c) can you order direct
from the manufacturer?

TIA,

Jonathan
