They can be a problem at the beginning of the season on young pepper
plants. Rosemary is right on target about ladybugs and I have also had
success with a hot pepper/garlic spray. Also gather praying mantis egg
clusters that have overwintered from around the neighborhood. They are
generally in bushy plants. Locate them in garden about 2 feet off the
ground. Finally, If you want to solve the problem at the front end
eliminate the ants. They "farm" the aphids fro the sweet sap that they
derive from the plants. Plant peppermint in your garden near the pepper
plants. Ants will move to another area. Just be careful as peppermint
spreads rapidly.
The good thing about these solutions..NO chemicals.
