Thank you, 99% of the subscribers, who've stayed out of this topic, at
least on the list. I'm not taking sides on this issue, except for the
inappropriateness of the forum. This list is about peppers.

I feel like I should take a vote (no, I'm not, because this list isn't
a democracy) about list content. This list is and always has been about
peppers. Recipes, gardening, hot sauces, seeds, etc. See the list charter at
http://neptune.netimages.com/~chile/list.html . Sure, we can post about
anything that comes to mind, politics, current events, computer viruses, etc,
but there are other and better places to do so. I want an information exchange
about peppers, and that's why I started and continue to offer this list.

There are apparently other lists that discuss peppers in terms of world peace,
tragedies, politics and computers; one was posted (and is run) by Rosemary.
Perhaps you can post these types of discussions there, or maybe that isn't to
the point of those lists either -- I don't know.

> We have alot of wonderful people here that want to talk about
>gardening, share recipes, seeds, talk Chilepeppers and yes sometimes off
>topic posts...only because they want to share something.... but it's getting
>to the point where some are shying away from posting fearing they will have
>to hear from the "Backlash Bullies "

From what I see, 98+% of this is due to people posting non-pepper
related material to the list. IF you like this kind of discussion, check out
many of the soc.culture.* lists; they are full of people calling each other
names. I've seen virtually no "flame wars" on pepper plant spacing, sauce
contents ("you're an idiot if you put xxx in your sauce"), etc.

Also, just because you can, doesn't mean you shouldn't think first
about reposting something sent to you who asks that it be sent "to everyone you
know" or "everyone in your address book". After all, would you phone everyone
you knew or send a written (paper) letter to everyone in your address book just
because you got such a request?

I will try to resume the Monthly Posting which answers some of the
more frequent questions: those about off topic posts, unsubscribing, and what
the list is about. Maybe a periodic reminder will help all of us remember why
we orginally subscribed.

Thanks

Mike
