FWIW dept. In NE an older style of roofing was to use wood shingles
as a drip edge. There is usually about 1/4 to 1/2 in spacing between
the shingles. Ladybugs like to hibernate in the spaces between the
shingles.
One of my sources tell me that you can get Ladybugs and keep
then in a jar, with a loose cover in the frig. all winter.
I did it, seemed to work OK.
Thoughts for the experimenters. Take a couple boards, piled.
seperate one edge by about 1/4 inch. Do this in the early fall.
Just before snow flies, Seperate boards, harvest ladybuds and
keep in frig till spring. Since these would be captured in your own
garden, they might stay at home in the spring.
