George:

A good argument.

But I don't think that most of us object to plant *breeding*. It's the
introduction of pesticide- and herbicide-resistant genes which gives me
the willies. These genes mean we can all eat more chemicals.

And it's the introduction of things like the Terminator gene that is
most distressing.

I guess my take on it is there is good gene research (plant breeding, et
al) and bad gene research (and application).

Right now, we have no say in the process (which we would, of course, if
this were a real democracy rather than the philosopher/king state we've
set up through our "elected" representatives).

Most importantly, all GE crops/products should be so noted, so we - the
buying public - can make the *choice*.

As it is, all of this is being/has been shoved down our throats by the
completely undemocratic government/corporate partnership, which is
focused solely on profits, rather than on the good of the nation/world
and its people.

Robert.
