Kids,

The gardening weather in Ohio has been perfect lately, and I've been out in
the yards. Yesterday I turned over the fenced garden on the ridge, and I
picked up a mild case of sunburn. Nothing really serious, but I could hide
pretty easily in the breakfast-sausage section of a grocery store.

(OK, OK, all of you dark-complexioned people go ahead and have a laugh at
me now.)

So while I was sitting here feeling burnt this morning, I thought about
that habanero-infused bottle of almond oil I have. So crazy, it just might
work, I told myself.

I massaged one shoulder with the hab oil, and left the other untreated.
That was a little more than an hour ago, and there is only a little bit of
a sense of lingering warmth. Now that I have a shirt on, the untreated
shoulder feels more irritation from the light scuffing of the fabric. The
skin is more flexible, but that's probably because of the oil, not the
pepper. If I gently rub each shoulder, the dry one feels a sharp little
irritation, but the hab shoulder feels a nice, warm half-numbness.
