Hello there,
rather than lurk forever I figured I'd quickly say hello (then lurk
forever after). My name's Tony O'Brien and I live in Hitchin, Hertfordshire,
UK. I've been a devotee of hot & spicy food since my student years (ie. a
long time :-), and in the last few years have been growing my own chillies
BUT without really having any clue as to what variety they were. This year
however all that's changed since I've got a nice new sunny garden & 12'*8'
greenhouse to play with, and have therefore decided to branch out and learn
about & enjoy some new varieties. With this in mind I've recieved and
started 9 varieties (8/4/99, currently in separate pots under glass) from
Pepper Joe's - Golden Habanero, Fatalli, Giant Serrano, Pueblo, Bolivian
Rainbow, Fluorescent Purple, Hot Lemon, Aji Gold & Red Sella (the last two
were freebies !). I've no idea what to expect from any of these as I'm a
complete beginner at this level, but was happy enough to get 22 germinations
out of 25 seeds planted. I've also now recieved & planted a ton of other
varieties from the Tough Love Chile Company, I'm late starting these I know,
but fingers crossed that they'll be able to catch up with my first batch in
due course. So far all of the PepperJoe chillies apart from the Habaneros &
Fatallis are shooting up (the Giant Serrano's in front at about 5 inches so
far). I've also ordered a few books from Amazon to help me on the road to
becoming (maybe) a 'true' Chile-Head. So who are you guys anyway ? Any
advice and/or comments regarding any of the above would be most welcome.....

Cheers,
Tony.
