Don't ever throw away empty cottage cheese or margarine containers.  Cut
the bottoms out and use them as a "collar" around the base of your baby
pepper (or whatever) plants.  Then get some diatomatatious earth and
sprinkle a band about 2 inches wide around the outside of the
container.  This will keep slugs and other soft-bodied creepy-crawlies
away from your baby plants.
