Hi Myron

Welcome to the greatest list in the world.!!

I live less than 300 yards from the ocean, here in the north island of
New Zealand. 176'46" East 37' 57" South. (Not the most famous beach in
the world, but very nice) <BG>
I grow a variety of chiles. With the constant westerlies we got last
year with El Nino the peppers were slowed down somewhat in spring. I
think this was due more to coolness than salt.
I erected a 4 foot windbreak from a piece of sacking on the western side
until Christmas. (mid summer here)
The Anaheim's behind it grew to be 5 foot tall.
My herbs are in the front of the house facing the sun and the ocean and
mostly do well.
I think temperature or soil conditions may be your problem.
