I've never done anything with the smaller plants but pot 'em up in the
soil they're already in and water them really well with a Miracle
Gro solution. In a really big pot or planter, I imagine you could do
what I do outdoors: throw half a dozen paper (not wooden) matchheads in
the transplant hole, cover 'em with soil so they don't touch any roots
and then transplant. This trick does a good sustained job of giving the
soil the pH peppers like; learned it from the National Gardening
Association's splendid series of veggie-gardening booklets, and it's
great for tomatoes, too. I don't think I'd do it in a smaller pot,
though.
