Posing a set of questions in replay to Dave Anderson's post about the names
for smoked chiles I wondered whether Morita could apply to serranos and
cited pictures on page 101 of Mark Miller's _The_Great_Chile_ Book_. Dave
seemed to agree the pictures of the moritas looked like serranos based upon
their proportions. Then again, in a following post, he mentioned certain
jalapenos can be called Moritas or Moras, "but a Serrano can be a Morita,
but not a Mora:-)"

Thanks, Dave for your comments on this. Labelling is certainly confusing
among chiles. Dave alludes to this with the Poblano/Pasilla/Ancho naming
in Southern California, specifically at the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce
Market. This is a whole different naming confusion that has extended to
some of the supermarket chains here in St. Louis where the big poblanos are
called pasillas. One of these days, I'll sneak in with a set of labels and
put the "right" ones on the capacious conical capsicums.
