I guess the timing of my inquiries to the list is about right. Last night I
went to the store and bought tofu for the first time and was going to ask if
anyone had any good recipes to use it in - chile related of course and
although I don't consider myself to be elderly (I am getting older by the
moment) I don't want to the stuff to kill me. I have been eating textured
vegetable protein and roasted soy nuts. I don't want to get in to a p*ssing
match about the food value of soy beans to either humans or animals. But
related to the TVP and the chorizo I have been making chorizo using pork or
turkey and adding TVP in sometimes and, although the turkey kind comes out a
little dry, it's all turned out pretty good. I think I am going to try to
make some venison chorizo next. I usually vary the ingredients in my chorizo
depending on what kind of mood I am in and what type of peppers I have
available. Here's a link to a page with a good many chorizo recipes -
http://www.mexconnect.com/foodboard/messages/1619.html. I tend to try to
keep mine simple and use various pepper powders and meats to vary it.
Chorizo verde is very good. I would like to try some of the recipes posted
in the Digest. OH NO now I am really hungry.
