I too have these long spindly tomatillos except my plants have very few
leaves. They are about 18 inches tall and falling over. Oh and I have
them in pots, I was told to keep them away from regular tomatoes.

Typicaly, weak stems are the sign excess nitrogen.

Ideal N= 2.5; Ideal P = 1.5 for tomatoes.

Angel, the reasons for suggested spacing between peppers, tomatoes,
eggplant, tobacco and potatoes is to reduce the oder, for the bugs that like
solaine (Nightshade family of plants) , ie pin worm, hornworm tobacco bud
worm and fruitworm etc. and to reduce the spread of commom diseases vectored
by bugs. Aphids esp.

Ideal spacing in 300 ft or more, ROR (Rots o' Ruck) in the home garden.
