Linda and I have considered trying to organize one for this general area.
There are possibilities like getting a group camping area at Burr Oak State
Park near Glouster to co-incide with their chile festival (weekend of Sep.
22 this year, conflicts with the hab fields). Or else have one in the slow
season in the winter, after the holidays but before the hotluck in Madison
IN on the first weekend of April.

So I'll toss it out to the C-H contingent within 100 miles or so of
Columbus, Ohio: Should we establish our own annual event?

As for Nacho Mama's, they're good, I've been in there once or twice. Had a
nice round at La Vaquera in Shawnee Hills last Sunday, capping off the day
of the CART race at Mid-Ohio.

The waiter asked if I like hot pepper after we asked for the house hot
sauce. (BTW, this is something worthwhile in a decent Mexican place - ask
if they have their own house hot sauce, there's usually something they make
from scratch, usually heavy with onions and cilantro, but never quite the
same thing twice.) "We have one in the kitchen that's very hot, called, um
ass ... " I was trying to guess all the hot sauce brands I know with ass in
their names. He brought a bottle of Ass in the Tub, which I had never tried
before. It was very thick and red, very salty, with a half-decent heat that
might have some potential. I let him take a whiff of the aging bottle of
Krakatoa I brought, and he snapped his head back. So I told him to hand it
to the kitchen crew with my compliments, and I'll probably hear about it
next time I'm in there.

Yup, you have to do that this far north, and even then I've run out of time
before the season is over. I want a kitchen greenhouse.

If I had any extra jalpenskis I'd be smoking them on the New Braunfels. I
had a skewer of them on last night when I did the ribs over hickory.
