You could try cutting them down to soil surface,  Place black plastic,
roofing material, board or similar light blocking medium over the root
system.

Leave for about 3 months.

No daylight they can't grow, then roots die.

Don't count on that.  Wild morning glory, or field bindweed, grows in crawl 
spaces.  Tall tendrils are white, but they continue to grow.  Margaret L
