My understanding is if the peat cells have the "netting" material around the
outside, it should be removed prior to transplanting.

LB--this is the first time I've used peat cells for germinating--when
you transplant them do you just leave the seedling in them.  Or peel the
sides off?  Or just open the bottom?  The package didn't have
directions.  Just like toilet paper.  Go figure.  :-|

The white fungus turned out to be a non-problem, as you said.

I used peat cells this year, however my packaging had instructions.
I just transplanted the whole cell as is, no cutting or boring ;-)
Seems to work fine, got a whole bunch of seedlings growing away.
