I grew both last year, and plan to this year as well, so I'll take a stab at
this.

1) The seeds/plants are difficult to find.
2) They are wild species. They are for the most part not cultivated by man.
3) They are more difficult to grow
        a) The seeds can be more difficult to germinate.
        b) They often require a long growing season.
        c) Some will not self pollinate (two or more plants required).
4) The fruit is relatively small so you don't get much of a harvest for your
effort.
5) C. eximium doesn't taste good. One of my plants from last year was
supposed to be Ulupica de Bolivia (most were C. cardenasii), but I think this
one was C. eximium, and the little fruits were hot but just didn't taste good.
I also think I read somewhere that C. eximium doesn't taste good.

I'm sure there are other reasons but this is what comes to mind at the moment.
