I was out in Phoenix several years ago on business and drove up to Crazy
Ed's in Cave Creek. It's a tiny little brewpub way out in the desert. I was
the only person in the bar at the time (a weeknight) and had a great chat
with the bartender and some of the serving crew. There's a big handwritten
sign in the window that sez "Don't even ASK about no Budweiser". And of
course, two guys come in and ask if they have Bud... Anyway, as a
homebrewer, I had to ask about the chile beer. It's a typical American lager
and the bartender said it wasn't a brew they were really proud of, but it
had it's purpose as a "novelty beer". OTOH, if you're ever out there, they
do a great stout (no peppers) and several others that are very good. The
foods not bad either, but not chilehead fare.
