You should try using a product called "Superthrive". Its great stuff. You
mix it with any fertilizer or use it all by it's self. You can find it at
some of the better stocked garden shops/nurseries or via mail order. You can
read about it here: http://www.superthrive.com/page1.html . I have also
read that bonsai tree and carnivorous plant enthusiasts are fond of it. Does
anyone else out there use it??
I am not affilliated with the manufacturer. I actually stayed away from
using it for years because the advertising claims on the packaging(and the
website) seem so outlandish. You can use it all season long or just at
transplanting. It practically eliminated transplant shock in my experience
but your results may vary from mine.
When I transplant I water the seedlings thoroughly about 2 hours before
I actually transplant to allow the water to soak in real well so there
aren't any dry pockets in the rootball then water well again after
transplanting. I use only tepid or distilled water to make sure there isn't
any chlorine present (probably not necessary but I like to cover all my
bases). Good luck!

Rob :-)
