Scott, Every time I've grown serranos, they were hairy like you say. It was quite noticible on heavy dew days in the fall as they were ripening. I don't recall it giving them any more frost resistance, though. Does anyone know if serranos are a different species of capsicum, like habaneros are? -lcc
