Well, Risa and all other C-H's who are interested.....Our visit with our
latest guest, Jim Campbell, he of "The Bread", was short, but very sweet. Far
too short, and I know he thought so as well, but he had to get his travelling
companion, another firefighter, from Florida, to Billings Montana, for noon on
the glorious fourth, to catch a flight back to Florida, which was an unplanned
circumstance. They had originally planned at least two and a half days here in
Nanaimo. I must say, to one and all, that Jim Campbell, is one of the finest
people that has ever, in all of my many years, been my priviledge to meet.
Prior to our meeting, we had been back and forth, for over three years, on
line, by snail mail, we had exchanged gifts, but as Jim said, it is so nice to
meet a far distant Chile Head, and find that you have so much in
common.....even, surprisingly, our taste in music! And Tony...he has the HP
Sauce, so you dont have to bring it from NZ! We fed them my CH version of
Greek Chicken, loaded with garlic, oregano, lemon juice and zest, and new BC
potaotes, cooked in the oil and lemon along with the chicken. Marie baked
cheese scones with Calvin's powder in them, and she also did a strawberry
rhubarb pie, a combination that neither of our guests had had before. Not one
of the four of us, left the table still hungry!
And there were even leftovers! Yesterday afternoon, we took them on a short
tour of Nanaimo, and the ocean beaches up at Parksville, which they enjoyed.
So, we put them on the 7:30 ferry to Vancouver, the Whistler, then Lillooet,
then through the Rockies tomorrow
and then on to Billings Montana and then back to Indiana. He may comment on
his trip, up to him! See, Jim.....I can be as obtuse as someone else I
know!!! :-) Cheers, Doug in Beautiful British Columbia.....I will never get
through all those chipotles!
