I'm afraid that it probably is ... if the plant is growing nicely.  I did
see some seedlings that were still in their little pots (six weeks or so
later), at the nursery where I bought mine, and they had lots of pods on
them.  Typical plant reaction to stress  - reproduce, reproduce !

I think you don't want a lot of pods in the first year.  It would be a sign
the plant wasn't happy ;-)

BTW - 3 rocoto's !  You must have a big garden.  They grow to be pretty
substantial shrubs you know - almost small trees !  I wish I had that much
space.  Typical inner suburban sydney garden here - viz small.
