I grew up in Virginia Beach and my family still lives there -- it's also the
place where Chris Schlesinger (of the East Coast Grill) got his start
(washing dishes at Blue Pete's in Pungo, about 5 miles further out into the
country from where I grew up).
At any rate, I still visit my family pretty often and my father and brother
are both also chile heads -- if there is any way you could jog your memory
with respect to the restaurant in VB, I would be very appreciative (my
brother is a cook at a very nice place in Norfolk and is generally
up-to-date with the "scene" there, so if you could even come up with a
partial name, we could figure it out).
