Just got done coughing up my lungs from making homemade habanero powder.
Found the perfect "grinder". We have an old Waring blender that we bought
with wedding money -- the jar broke several years ago, but dear wife had
kept the base and blades, cause we had a smaller plastic 1 Cup size 'jar' to
blend small amounts. Worked great for the habs. Not great when you take
the blades off though. Everybody caught a good whiff of the stuff :-)
Whirred it about for a few minutes and it is nicely ground fine. Did take
it outside to transfer it to a shaker container, stood with the wind to my
back and poured it out of the blender jar.

Did the same thing to a bunch of dried anaheims. Have just about a quart of
anaheim chile powder. Will have more, too. Pulled my anaheim plants just
over a month ago. Had them in an unheated garage, til our nice October
24-25 blizzard. Hung them in our main garage, they were still green. After
ten days of warm air blowing over them, most of the peppers are now nicely
red, and starting to dry very well. Think I'll leave them there till they
are dried enough to grind.
