I have about 12-18 chile plants that I started growing indoors, the largest
(first batch) are about 8-10" tall and getting quite bushy. There were no
problems at all with any of the plants until early last week: some of the leaves
on the larger plants started developing brown necrotic spots and streaks, but
there was no indication of any pests of any kind. The problems got worse for a
few days. Then I discovered several leaves (pieces of leaves, actually) lying on
the floor beaneath the plants. The plants themselves had several leaves that
were partially missing and the edges of the remaining pieces looked...well...
gnawed.

Mystery unraveled: My cat had discovered my capsicum cache.

A section of strategically-placed (cat-proof) screening solved the problem.
