There are those on this list that have sprayed Police Pepper Spray on
their food.  Fairly straight cap.

As Jim says it does not cause burns.  It is not caustic.  (Although, in
general, Jim, a  substance doesn't have to be an acid to be caustic or
cause burns.  Lye for instance, also known as soda lye and caustic
soda.)

And I recall the police using Que tips to rub it into protestors eyes at
some sit-in (in the US) a while back.  Pretty barbaric if you ask me,
but there was no blistering or permanent damage I'm aware of.
