I strart all of my crops in the greenhouse with Fafard Germinating Mix in 200
or 288 plug trays, then transplant to larger trays, when the first set of
true leaves develop, 72 cell for peppers and 48's for everything else, with
ProMix BX. I also have some large 200 cell re-usable flats that I fill with
BX and then the top 1/4" with Germinating Mix. These stay in those flats from
germination, till transplanting in the field. Since these are larger celled
trays, it does take longer for the seeds to germ, but saves time and
material. Some start in 392 or 512 plug trays, but those smaller cells dry
out fast, you have auto mist system or someone in there during the day to
keep misting the trays. Orange habs seem to take forever to germ and develop.
