First of all, are there any other Victorians out there?

At the moment we are enjoying warmish mid-summer weather, but the cooler nights are making fruit grow slow which means I have stumpy chillies (OZ spelling).
Anyway, I can live with that.  I found the thin walled fruit are doing fine, but the thick walled are stunted.
Jalapenos, seem to ok.  
At last, to the point of the message, I have more than a few ant collonies which have seen fit to invade my potted plants and am wondering if they are good, bad or neutral.  There are no aphids o attract them, they simply find my pots a great dig.  anyone with any ideas?
