Hey Chile heads,

Last year I did a few experiments using zip lock bags of various
sizes.
I filled one quart, one gallon and three gallon zip lock bags
with a bit of composted cow poop and potting soil.
I used them for peppers, tomatoes, basil and celery.
They all went on the porch which gets sun for the first half the day.
It all looked like iv bags full of dirt.
Someone.. who shall remain nameless but her initials are Alex Soltow
suggested that I use plastic tubing of various colors in an ironic
reverse of what a iv bag does to add water on a periodic basis.
I have resisted this aesthetically interesting idea. :-)
Well.. I did last year.
As you might expect the three gallon size worked the best.
The smaller sizes are good for a bit of basil or something
small and slow growing.
At the end of the season ( I live in Michigan, USA ) I brought
some of them in to winter over.
The peppers (Fatali) (Calvin's Hindu), the celery are all doing
well in spite of my less than tender care.
It was interesting seeing the plant roots spread through the soil.
So much easier to see in a clear plastic bag.
A dirt aquarium.
By the by, has anyone attempted to grow guajillos?

Regards

Jose
