In a lot of places sorta north, like western New York
and western Pennsylvania where I grew up, they are
called "leeks."
Lots of local volunteer fire departments and churches
have Ham and Leek Dinners as fundraisers in the early
Spring.

she was hunting leeks (in vain) up Pecos Canyon while
working a forest fire last week
