Many apologies if my recent discovery is a repeat - I've been off the list
for awhile (something like two and a half years...)
At several of the local Big Lots, I've seen and eventually purchased chile
pepper flavored penne - genuine Italian made, brand name is "Remo," it
comes in 12 oz bags. Based on prior experiences with flavored pastas, I
expected perhaps an insinuation of chile - and was pleasantly surprised to
find a consistent, but (to me) comfortable level of heat. Ingredients, as
I recall, were pretty much semolina flour and chiles, so no trace of over
saltiness either. Obviously not a red sauce food, and I think pesto would
be wasted unless you used it very sparingly - we used a white clam sauce
which was oil, not cream based. A non chile head friend couldn't finish
his, so beware of serving to the uninitiated......
It's Great to be Back!
