How do goodly hotheads! 'Tis I, de-lurking again to share the tail of my
recent good fortune ',;~}

Friday, I was to travel by rail to Chester, to visit an old friend that had
moved from here (Blackburn) some time ago. She is a foodie. There are no
real Asian food stores in Chester (there are hundreds here!), so I said I
would take over some of the long thin green and some of the conical green
Asian chiles for her and hubby - save her spending £1 for 3 or 4 at the
supermarkets.

I got to Akhtar's in the 'little Pakistan' area of our town, and bought a
pound of each - £2 total!

On my way out, a holy red radiance caught my eye, and upon closer
examination, it proved to be emanating from a large crate of Scotch Bonnets!
This is a first, as they only tend to have the good heat but poor flavoured
green ('Serrano' like, I believe was the consensus for the knobbly ones??)
varieties, and those are what I have become accustomed to. I filled a bag
with the SB's, store keeper chuckling and grinning all the while: "Those are
the very hottest ones! Oh yes! I'm thinking you are liking them a lot,
no??", handed over my £1.30, and left for the station a happy bunny ',;~}

I had my first one chopped onto a big beef, bacon and cheese burger at the
pub on the way from station to Sally's place - delicious! Hot. Very hot! But
ohhh, the flavour!!!

They may not be 'real' Habs, but they have a fine, fine flavour, and I
sweated and cried and sweated and smiled and drank cold beer. Sally thought
it was hilarious and strange (she's of the mild persuasion), and the other
patrons in the beer garden were left wondering where this feverishly
grinning nut-case had escaped from....heheheheheh..... ',;~}

We used several over the w/e (Including in my now famous mixed root veg.
spiced mash), I ate that many it nearly ruined my Friday night on the town -
had to visit the loo several times in one hour, heheheh.... I strung up a
good number of the three varieties, and they are now decorating their
kitchen (they were very pleased, and are considering re-decorating the
entire area.....).

I brought home about half a pound of them from Chester because they didn't
need them all saying 'a years supply is plenty' (heh!), and I'm going back
to the shop after work in the hopes there will be some left.

Should keep me in hot and tasty chile sauce for a few weeks ',;~}

How lucky some of you Foreigners are, to have so much choice and such good
value for money too, and nearly all the time!

Shaun aRe - had Hunan everything this w/e, heheheh ouch!
