Alex...when I was in the RCAF in the fifties, and windshield washers
were an "add on" I had a friend who sorta changed the configuration of
his, and when he pushed that little button under the dash,a shot of
vodka would come out into his cup. He was quite adept at holding the cup
and pushing that button at the same time, as he was driving, of course.
One time when we were flying the runway lights, and taking pictures of
them at night, we got socked in, and couldn't fly, so we headed for
Toronto, from Trenton, Ontario. Sure enough we ended up in a ditch, but
the Ontario Provincial Police could not find a drop of booze in the car!
Not a practise I would endorse, as I ended up with a bent rib, much
worse than a broken one, I might add! Last time I drove with that Sgt!
