This was tonight's dinner - Pasta Shells with
Broccoli. It was quite good. Usually we only like
pasta with red sauce of some kind. This has no real
sauce. It has a bit of red pepper flakes but if you
like chop up a red chile and add that while sauteing
the broccoli stalks with the anchovy paste.

   2 cloves garlic -- sliced
   2 tsp anchovy paste
   2 tbsp unsalted butter
   2 tbsp olive oil
   1 lb dried pasta shells
                        kosher salt
                        black pepper
1 handful parmesan cheese -- freshly
grated
1 tsp hot pepper flakes -- * see
note

Start a big pot of water on the stove. When it comes
to a boil, add some salt and the pasta. Cook according
to package directions. In the last four minutes of
cooking, add the broccoli florets.

Chop up the stalks of the broccoli. Reserve. Slice
large florets in half, otherwise leave them be. Heat a
skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, 1/2
the butter, anchovy paste and broccoli stalks. Saute
until they are completely coated and warmed up. Add a
bit of salt and pepper.

When pasta & broccoli are done, drain well. Add to
skillet with sauce. Add the rest of the butter and
some parmesan cheese. Season to taste.

Serve with warm rolls or bread. Place a small bowl of
parmesan on the table for passing.
