Manzanos,
I'm living north of Coffs Harbour NSW OZ, 500yds from the beach,1000yds from the Water, I haven't
grown Manzanos for a couple of years but probably will this year. I did not have any problems with
fruit fly but my mother 500 Kilometres south of me who grew them for 4 years did. I have had fruit
fly in my Feijoa but only in its 4th year as it had a good crop, the first 3 years with minimal
fruit Nada..

My Manzanos are ovoid and sourced from Brasil, I sent Graeme Casselton some 7 Flower Images that
he has hopefully put up on his website, If they are not up yet, (o.k.) I haven't checked yet, I
can send them to anybody interested but with the warning that they are Hi-Res taken by my brother
with his Nikon 990 Digital Camera and are on average 428k each,(3 Meg) for the 7. Mums plant grew
like a Vine and was 7 foot tall and about 5 feet wide.

Remove all Fruit Fly bitten fruit as soon as possible, do not leave lying around as the larve can
live in the ground, Here in Oz home gardeners hang a jar with a solution of Vegemite in it to
attract the Fly, Its supposed to work fairly well.

NEW LISTMEMBERS PLEASE READ THIS!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Surprised that a List Cop has not chipped some of the Newer listmembers about Netiquette, as there
seem to be lots of people hitting the reply button and reposting major portions of the original
messages.
Used to do that 8-9 years ago myself till I was corrected..Its all about bandwidth and how much
work Mikes server has to do, it would be better if the Digest was 20 k smaller.. I did the
excercise on Digest 701 and cut it down to 26 kb from 45 kb just deleting most of the reposted
stuff.! left the Adds for Yahoo and AVG alone as well as sigs..

The Tepin bushes have finally gone into hibernation, I got 11 up this year, gave 6 away and
planted the rest in 6 inch fibre cement tubes with a red Scoria mulch.
Challenging little suckers to germinate..

Indonesian Dipping Sauce for Steamed Dim Sims or other asian dishes

1/2 cup Soy Sauce (kikoman) Although the indo's would probably use a thicker Soy (ketjap Manis)
3-4 cloves Garlic crushed
5 seeded Chiles Chopped fine (probably a birds Eye) (2-3 Serranos will do).
Juice of 15-20 Cumquats
Mix and rest for 2 hours before using..
