   I use bamboo skewers pushed into the ground.
They are good braces for plants that are still
too small to benefit from tomato cages.  Because
they are narrow and going in (nearly) vertically
they don't damage the root system, kinda like brain
probes.  They are cheap, organic and can be tilled
into the soil at the end of the season.
