Well folks, I just walked the fields today for the first time since June. They look horrible. Not to sound like Byron (:-P) but the weather here has been terrible. We have had rains of near Biblical proportions and below normal temps. Entire varieties have died out. There are large gaps in the plantings. I'm almost too embarrassed to have it but, the show must go on. Forgive me!!! I do believe that there will still be enough chiles (about 6,000 of the 8,500 planted for this event survived) and enough varieties for everyone to be happy. The aji's are going great guns as are the pimpientos and ANYTHING purple (4 types). Hardest hit were the Tepins (gone!) and the Tabascos. Forensics hasn't identified a couple of the other bare spots yet ;-) Consider this the official (next to last) announcement and invitation. Dates: Sept 27th & 28th Where: A secret location in Indiana that isn't so secret anymore What: Free chiles, free food, good times Please e-mail me if you are planning to attend so that I can send out the official rules & regs later this week & try to get a head count. This years' theme is "The Field of Screams". If you saw me in them this afternoon, it is more appropriate than you might think :-) The official poster can be seen at www.wildpepper.com/specials.html Thanks again Jeff! Folks are more than welcome to come on down on Friday if needed. See you there! -Jim C Mild to Wild(R)
