Cameron,

An interesting subject to me. Just starting my 3rd year growing C. pubescens and I find them most baffling & most enjoyable.

My best luck for 1st year plants has been with accessions from Ecuador. The ones from Guatemala with only one exception have yet to ripen after 11 months of growing. One from Bolivia (PI 387838) was my earliest ever and the most prolific.

The 'NorthEast ChileMan' (Paul K.) has grown 2 of the most phenomenal first year plants I have ever seen. Maybe he will see this thread and chime in.

I've not been able (so far) to get winter pod set. I have about 25 diff C. pubs overwintering now. I have sodium & halide lighting, but haven't used them yet as want to see if warm & cool fluorescent will do the job.

Shade cloth & misting. That is my plan for '04. My garden is in a dense wooded area and the humidity here is staggering. I'm thinking of misting only to keep the temps down. I have a few accessions that will set pods in fairly high temps. And I'm thinking (guessing) that 2nd year plants will be even more successful at higher temps.
