McMurray.com is probably the best commercial hatchery; they mail the 
baby birds to you.

Be ready for dirty pets.  There are few things filthier than a dirt 
floored chicken house.   

The get ready for a hobby that will be even more expensive than chiles.

ps:  go to yahoogroups.com and search for email lists on chickens and/or 
poultry.  The grandfather of all poultry lists is there.  Some annoying 
people raise chickens and they all know more than anyone else.  But there 
are some very knowlegable people there too.
