We might be planning a garden -- but the global warming hasn't caught on
here in NE ND --- minus 40+ this morning -- my greenhouse has two feet of
snow on it and propane hardly wants to flow.

I gave up the commercial gardening last year -- kids are growing up and
leaving home -- but still planting way too much for just our own use. Our
garden is about 40 X 60 feet -- raised beds and plasticulture for the
peppers and tomatoes. Planning on planting just a few varieties of peppers
this year -- a packet of habaneros, and the usual jalapeno, serrano and
hungarian hots, and some green bells.

It is nice though to think that in 6 weeks we can be expecting nicer
weather. I usually clean out my greenhouse and start the furnace about the
second week of March. Start geminating petunias, peppers and tomatoes
earlier in our living room south windows about the end of February -- plants
get a bit leggy, but just transplant them a bit deeper in the cell packs.
Transplant them into 4 cell packs in mid april and into the garden in late
May, early June.

Just about time to start cuttings from my geraniums from last year too.
Damn -- I like to think about summer :-)

Stay warm
